While taking care of people’s teeth is certainly a big part of being a dentist, Dr. Levy says that the most important part of his job is building relationships with his patients. Only by understanding someone on a personal level can he provide exactly what they need while also guaranteeing a comfortable experience. He loves the variety of people he gets to meet through his dental office, and before your first appointment, you can learn a little more about him below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Levy knew he wanted to be in the medical field from an early age, and he initially planned to go to medical school. During undergrad, he met his college roommate’s dad, who was a dentist. After talking with him and hearing about his work, Dr. Levy decided to switch his focus to dentistry and started shadowing different dentists. He discovered that the field was a great fit for him, and his path was set.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Levy received his Bachelor of Science from Villanova University, where he graduated cum laude. Afterward, he worked as a Special Education teacher in Newton Public Schools (both of his parents were SE teachers). While teaching was incredibly rewarding, Dr. Levy’s dream was to become a dentist. He received his DMD from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, graduating magna cum laude. During his first year at BU, Dr. Levy met his wife, Dr. Christa Rizkallah. The two always dreamed of practicing together and feel fortunate to have that opportunity at Devonshire Dental of Boston.
Since completing his formal education, Dr. Levy has completed hundreds of hours of additional training, and he is now a certified Invisalign provider. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and a Spear Education Study Club.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Levy and Dr. Rizkallah have two young children who keep them very busy, and in his free time, he likes taking care of his saltwater reef aquarium.
